Comfortable room with fresh milk for tea. Free wi-fi was handy. Lacked pet-friendly options.

Delightful breakfast with plenty of options.
Our stay in the four-poster room was far from ideal. Upon arrival, the lack of a proper hairdryer was disappointing, and the bathroom was poorly ventilated, which made it uncomfortable. To top it off, the mismatched towels were worn and had tears, diminishing the overall experience.

Chalk And Cheese is an absolute gem! The quirky decor filled with antiques and curios made each corner delightful. Breakfast was a joy, with a huge selection of cereals and made-to-order cooked meals. The hosts were so friendly and accommodating!
No complaints at all.

i almost woudl ve been impressed, but the noisy party ruining my sleep and dog smell in reception were absoluteley unacceptable. it's astonishing how such a 'charming' place woudl not offer even an upgrade for my troubles. the host's 'warmth' failed to alleviate my disappointment, so i guess some people don't deserve special treatment after all.

charming stay with unique decor but room could use better ventilation
The quirky decor throughout the property was delightful, giving the place a unique character. I enjoyed the spacious room, complete with a comfortable bed and useful amenities like a fridge and excellent Wi-Fi. Breakfast was a highlight. each dish was cooked to order, making it a wonderful way to start the day. The cozy conservatory provided a pleasant setting for meals, and the hosts were exceptionally welcoming.
The lack of proper ventilation in the bathroom made it slightly uncomfortable during my stay.

The unique ambiance of the former Victorian school is charming, complemented by a cozy conservatory for breakfast. Hosts Andrew and Bridget exude warmth, making guests feel at home. An excellent choice for early risers, but the lack of warming before arrival was slightly uncomfortable.

Couples looking for charm
Spent a night in this place and it was something else. The decor is a treasure trove of quirky stuff, and when I walked into my room, I could hardly believe the comfort of that bed,, it felt like I was sleeping on a cloud. Breakfast was made to order, and Andrew's cooking? It was heavenly, made my morning like nothing else.
It wasn't exactly wallet-friendly, but worth every penny.
